About the Department

The Department of Hematology at the Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute (CNCI) in Kolkata is dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, and research of blood disorders and hematologic cancers. The department offers a full spectrum of services for the management of various hematologic conditions, including leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and non-malignant blood disorders like anemia. Equipped with cutting-edge diagnostic tools, the department ensures precise and early detection of hematologic disorders. Facilities include advanced imaging, molecular diagnostics, flow cytometry, and cytogenetic analysis.

The Department of Hematology at CNCI Kolkata is dedicated to providing exceptional care, advancing research, and educating the next generation of healthcare professionals, thereby improving outcomes and the quality of life for patients with hematologic disorders.

Facilities

Innovative Treatment Approaches: The department adopts the latest treatment modalities to provide effective care. These include:

Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy: Utilizing advanced protocols and immunotherapy techniques to treat blood cancers.

Targeted Therapy: Implementing targeted therapies to attack specific cancer cells, minimizing damage to normal cells.

The Department will soon be Performing both autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplants for suitable patients.

Clinical & Academic Activities

Out of the total Hematological Cases seen during he last one year the bifurcation of disorders are as follows: AML-14%, MDS-3%, ALL-13%, MM-24%, CML-7.5%, CLL-3.7%, Hodgkin lymphoma -10%, NLPHL-1.2%, DLBCL-10.2%, Follicular lymphoma -6.2%, Mantle cell lymphoma -1.8%, PTCL-1.2%, LCH-1.2%, WM-1.2% .

Committed to the advancement of hematology, the department offers robust training programs for medical students, residents, and fellows. Through workshops, seminars, and continuing medical education (CME) programs, the department fosters the development of future hematologists and oncologists.
