Department Information

About the Department

The Head & Neck Surgical Oncology Department at CNCI provides tertiary level care and Rehabilitative Supportive Care to all categories of head & neck cancer patients attending CNCI. Functioning from both the Newtown Campus and Hazra Campus, the department follows treatment protocols as per International and National Guidelines. Equipped with state-of-the art Surgical Operating Theatres and ICU and supported by Departments of Radiotherapy and Medical Oncology, holistic and complete care of head & neck cancer patients can be offered.

The department today offers major reconstructive surgical options and microvascular free-flap surgeries to a very large patient population from across the state, adjoining states and neighboring countries. Analysis of the case inputs reveals that a significant number of patients from the low-to middle income group access the facilities at some point during their treatment. The weekly Multi-Disciplinary Tumor Boards (MDT) allows frank discussion across the various disciplines with the patient for better compliance to the treatment protocols. Rehabilitative service such as Dentistry, Speech & Swallow, Physiotherapy & Nutritional Support act in conjunction with the department to offer holistic patient care services.
