About Library

Welcome to the virtual entrance of the CNCI Library. CNCI is an autonomous Institution of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

CNCI has two campuses. The first one is Hazra Campus; Hazra has two wings, Hospital Library and Research Library catering to the need of Scientists, Clinicians, DNB students, Research scholars, Post graduate summer fellows, and technical staff of the Institute and also extends its facilities to other institutions, universities, college students and individuals and the second one is the Newtown Campus. The campus at Rajarhat has been built under the Union Ministry of Health. The building is equipped with all the latest facilities for cancer treatment including Nuclear Medicine (PET), 3.0 Twin MRI, 128 slice CT scanner, Radionuclide therapy unit, endoscopy suite, modern brachytherapy units, library, accommodation for relatives of the patient, and for doctors. From 19 August 2020, Institute has started its OPD services and was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji (through Video Conference), in the presence of Smt. Mamata Banerjee, Hon'ble Chief Minister of West Bengal and Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Hon'ble Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilisers on 7 January 2022 at Rajarhat.

The 2nd Campus of CNCI at Rajarhat forms its state-of-the-art 460 bedded new campus hospital. The 2nd campus will have facilities for Radiation oncology, Medical oncology, Surgical oncology, Head and neck oncology, Gynae-oncology, Paediatric oncology, Radio diagnosis, Nuclear medicine, Preventive oncology, Palliative Care, Rehabilitation. In the 2nd Campus, there is provision of providing comprehensive cancer treatment through various specialised departments like Brood Bank and Transfusion medicine, Diagnostic PET CT scan, MRI, Bone Marrow therapy & Molecula Pathology.

CNCI has a state-of-the-art Library for Cancer Research and Treatment. This library has many books and journals (both Hard copy as well as Online access facilities) required for Cancer Management.

The library is conducive for long hours of study. The library is well equipped with conventional resources, as well as technology-based information services. The library follows an open access system and the books are arranged using the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) scheme. Digital Libraries are provided for Online searching facilities, Journals and Book databases are available on On-line Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) for electronic searches through computer terminals.

To create and update a comprehensive database of cancer literature.

Mission:

The mission of CNCI Library is to provide comprehensive dissemination of knowledge to the larger cancer care to one and all, through its motto of excellence in services, education and research.

Vision:

As the premier cancer centre in the country, we will provide leadership in guiding the policy and strategy for cancer care that will serve as a source of knowledge and expertise for the society and be a preferred destination for studies.
