Rules and Regulations of the Hostel at CNCI, Kolkata

The hostel facilities at the Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute (CNCI), Kolkata are designed to provide a comfortable and conducive living environment for the doctors and nurses. To ensure smooth functioning and maintain discipline, a set of rules and regulations are in place for all the residents.

General Rules

1. Admission and Allotment:

  • Hostel accommodation is allotted based on the availability and eligibility.
  • All residents must submit a duly filled admission form along with required documents.
  • Room allotment is done by the hostel authorities and is non-transferable.

2. Occupancy:

  • Only authorized occupants are allowed to reside in the hostel rooms.
  • Any unauthorized occupancy or sub-letting of rooms is strictly prohibited and will lead to disciplinary actions.

3. Visitors:

  • Visitors are allowed only during the designated visiting hours.
  •  All visitors must register at the hostel office and obtain permission from the Hostel In-charge or Warden.
  •  Overnight stay of visitors is not permitted.

Conduct & Discipline

1. Behaviour:

  •   Residents are expected to maintain decorum and behave courteously with fellow residents, staff, and visitors.
  •   Any form of harassment, bullying, or misconduct will be dealt with strictly.

2. Noise:

  •   Residents must avoid making noise that may disturb others, especially during night hours (10:00 PM to 6:00 AM).
  •   Use of musical instruments or loudspeakers is restricted and subject to prior permission from the hostel authorities.

3. Cleanliness:

  • Residents are responsible for keeping their rooms and common areas clean and tidy.
  • Littering or causing damage to hostel property is prohibited.

    Health and Hygiene

    1. Medical Emergencies:

    • In case of a medical emergency, residents should contact the Hostel Office or the designated Medical Officer immediately.
    • First-aid kits are available in the Hostel Office for minor injuries.

    2. Personal Hygiene:

    • Residents are expected to maintain personal hygiene and cleanliness.
    • Proper disposal of waste is mandatory, and residents must use designated bins for different types of waste.

    Safety, Security & Maintenance

    All residents must carry their Hostel ID cards at all times and produce them upon request by hostel authorities or security personnel.

    • Emergency exits should be used only in case of emergencies.

      Residents must familiarize themselves with Fire Safety equipments and procedures.

      • Tampering with fire safety equipment is a serious offense and will result to severe disciplinary action.
      • All hostel rooms are semi-furnished. Residents must take care of the provided furniture and fixtures.
      • Any damage or loss of hostel property will be charged to the resident responsible.

      Any maintenance issues must be reported to the Security Office immediately.

      • Residents should not attempt to repair or tamper with electrical or plumbing installations.
      • Residents are expected to maintain decorum and behave courteously with fellow residents, staff, and visitors.
      • Any form of harassment, bullying, or misconduct will be dealt with strictly.

      Penalties and Disciplinary Actions

      Any violation of the hostel rules and regulations will attract penalties as decided by the hostel authorities.

      • Repeated offenses may lead to expulsion from the hostel.

        A disciplinary committee, comprising of hostel authorities and senior residents, will review and adjudicate cases of misconduct.

        • The decision of the disciplinary committee will be final and binding.
