Palliative Centre

The Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute (CNCI) in Kolkata provides comprehensive Palliative Care Services to support patients with advanced cancer and their families. Palliative Care at CNCI focuses on improving the quality of life by managing symptoms, providing psychological support, and addressing social and spiritual needs.

Clinical Activities

Provides OPD, IPD, Home Care & Hospice Care to the patient & family & provides Palliative Care to patients referred from Institutes of repute like TMH,Mumbai & CMC,Vellore etc.

The common symptoms managed by the dept. ranges from Cancer pain to anxiety and vomiting. A total number of 1422 patients have been newly registered in the Department during the period between April’ 2023 and March’ 2024.The Department also have treated 2568 of old/follow up patients during the year.

Academic Activities

Observership and Internship Programs:

Medical doctors and nurses from various medical colleges have the opportunity to undergo observerships and internships at CNCI. These programs provide hands-on experience and exposure to the best practices in palliative care, enhancing the participants' skills and knowledge.

IAPC Part B Hands-On Training Program:

CNCI hosts the Indian Association of Palliative Care (IAPC) Part B Hands-On Training Program. This program is designed to provide comprehensive training in palliative care, equipping healthcare professionals with the necessary skills to deliver high-quality palliative care services.

The Setting: A Heritage Building in Chandernagore

The hospice is situated in a beautiful heritage building in Chandernagore, providing a serene and peaceful environment for patients and their families. The heritage setting adds to the therapeutic atmosphere, offering a sense of tranquility and comfort.

In partnership with Ruma Abedona Hospice, the Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute (CNCI) Kolkata has established a dedicated 15-bedded hospice at the RNMCRC, Chandernagore. This hospice is designed to provide holistic care to patients requiring end-of-life care, respite care, and hospice care.
