Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute
Who We are
The Hazra Campus of CNCI in the heart of the city of Kolkata, often
referred to as the first campus of CNCI, has been a cornerstone in
the fight against cancer in India. Established in 1950, CNCI was one
of the earliest cancer treatment facilities in the country, and the
Hazra Campus has been central to its mission. Named after the
renowned Indian freedom fighter and philanthropist, Chittaranjan
Das, the institute was set up to honor his memory and continue his
legacy of social welfare. Over the decades, the Hazra Campus has
evolved from a modest beginning into a comprehensive cancer
treatment and research facility.
It is a 210 bedded facility offering a wide range of clinical
services, making it a crucial hub for cancer treatment in the
region. The departments at this campus include Surgical Oncology,
Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Radiodiagnosis, among
others. These departments work in tandem to provide
multidisciplinary care to cancer patients, ensuring that they
receive the best possible treatment.
As CNCI expands and evolves, the Hazra Campus remains at the heart
of its mission to provide affordable, high-quality cancer care and
to advance the understanding and treatment of this devastating
disease.
